Women Empowerment: SUVIDHA’s vision to transform challenges into opportunities

Post By: admin

In recent decades, the world has made magnificent economic, technological, and social advances. However, gender equality remains an issue all over the world, it is the biggest challenge for humanity. As we strive to achieve the goal of a more inclusive society, we must remember the words of Gloria Steinem, "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” Today Women’s empowerment should be a key pillar of all the international and national development agencies and NGOs. Women’s socio-economic empowerment is bound to bring significant and sustainable progress to society.

The Sustainable Development Goals is a call for action by all countries to promote prosperity and protect the planet. Women's empowerment is one of the most important actionable, included as “Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”. According to the Sustainable Development Goal Report 2023, women in the labour market still earn 23% less than men globally. All over the world, nearly half of married women lack decision-making power over their reproductive and sexual health and rights.

At SUVIDHA, we firmly believe that women's empowerment and inclusion are pivotal for driving progress within any community. Our primary focus lies in creating pathways for income generation for women, thereby fostering their economic independence and self-sufficiency. Through initiatives such as Self-help Groups, Income Generation Programs, Leadership Development, Market Linkages, Skill Enhancement, Entrepreneurial Financial Inclusion, and Health Initiatives, SUVIDHA endeavors to empower and include women in rural regions.

Our impact speaks volumes, with over 2,240 rural women benefiting from various enterprises established by SUVIDHA, including Eri Silk Processing Units, Incense Stick Units, Spice Processing Units, Food and Fruit Processing Units, Bakery Units, Floriculture, Mithila Art Studios, Handloom Units, and Dairy Units, strategically located throughout the country.

Furthermore, our technological interventions, such as Biogas, Improved Cook Stoves, and Farm Equipment, have significantly reduced drudgery for 12,719 women, while an additional 22,781 women directly benefit from our agricultural initiatives.

As an NGO, our core objective remains steadfast - to empower women through holistic development, education, guidance, and collaborative efforts, particularly those hailing from marginalized backgrounds.

We take immense pride in our partnerships with numerous women's groups, facilitating them in unlocking their full potential and realizing their aspirations. Through these collaborations, we have witnessed remarkable enhancements in their decision-making processes, enabling them to assertively navigate various aspects of their lives.

Together, let us continue striving towards a future where every woman is empowered, included, and empowered to thrive, equipped with the confidence and capabilities to make informed choices and shape their destinies.
